It is not uncommon for people to want a figurehead to rally behind. It is human nature to follow a leader whether they gained that position through charisma, competence, luck, or (in my case) persistence. Although deeply flattering, this is actually something I have tried very hard to avoid. It has always been my goal for the HMA to be bigger than any one person. Ergo, “We Are All Winston”.
On it’s surface, it’s a simple joke about the prevalence of Alts in Eve Online. However, if you look a little deeper you will see that it’s a blatant ripoff of “We Are All Negan” from AMC’s The Walking Dead. The thing is, everyone has the potential to step up and be a leader. In this case, it just happened to be me. However, as our organization grows, we see more and more people taking the initiative to run fleets and organize activities.
And, that is what the HMA is really all about. Ultimately, mining is just a means to an end. It is a simple activity that is relatively easy to manage and organize. But, today’s Bosmang’s are tomorrows Fleet Commanders. By fostering an inclusive environment where players can ease into the conflict that is the core of New Eden, we are helping the game we love continue to grow and thrive.
