The HMA prides itself on being an inclusive community. Everyone is welcome to take part in our fleets as long as they are willing to abide by our rules. So, what do we do with folks who either fail to abide by our rules or refuse to join our fleets? Well, whatever you want to. Since that can be a little overwhelming consider the below some examples of how to properly enforce compliance with HMA Rules and Regulations.

Ganking. This is what most people think of when we refer to enforcing compliance. As there are plenty of guides out there on how to gank, I will leave that as an exercise for the reader. What I would like to talk about is how to gank on behalf of the HMA. The most important thing to remember is that we are using ganking to encourage compliance. As such, it is important to remember to not be an asshole. Most of the time, when people fail to join fleet it is because they didn’t realize and not because they chose not to. Should you choose to “sell permits” as part of your ganking efforts it is important to you make it clear that you are doing so independently. The HMA does not issue or recognize permits in lieu of fleet participation.

Bumping. Hand in hand with ganking, bumping is one of the traditional means of ruining someone’s day. It involved hitting a mining vessel at a high-rate of speed in order to knock it out of position resulting in wasted time and energy to get back to mining. Done well, this can completely derail a mining operation.

Type C Mining: Also known as the “Solstice Special”, Type C mining is perhaps the purest form of resource denial. It involves actively mining your target’s asteroids out from under them. In theory, anyone with a mining laser can get in on the fun. However, this tactic really shines once you’ve unlocked the power of T2 Strip Miners with the appropriate Type C crystals. Meant to remove “unwanted” ore, these crystals have greatly increased Residue resulting in rocks melting much faster than normal. When applied to your target’s rocks that means a lot of frustration, wasted cycles, and poor returns. As an added bonus, it is completely legal and requires no special equipment beyond what you are already using.

Hopefully, this brief introduction has given you some food for thought in regards to how you can help maintain and increase our position as the friendly neighborhood cartel.
